Job Overview:
The Human Factors Expert position is integral to the Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC), specifically within the Operations Division. This role focuses on providing expertise in human factors to support air traffic management (ATM) training. The selected candidate will conduct analyses and impact assessments, develop and validate solutions, and implement improved methodologies for assessing human factors impacts. The expert will also be responsible for creating training programs and delivering courses, collaborating with various partners, and producing reports to enhance awareness of human factors in ATM. The position requires a proactive approach to stay updated on technological advancements and best practices in the field, ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of human factors integration in air traffic management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Human Factors Expert include: conducting human factors analyses and impact assessments; designing and validating solutions and improvements; performing post-implementation analyses; developing and implementing improved methods for assessing human factors impacts; creating and delivering training programs related to human factors; collaborating with internal and external partners to develop methods and tools; producing technical documentation and reports; staying informed about technological developments and trends; and carrying out any additional tasks aligned with the job's main purpose. The expert will also coordinate working groups focused on human factors development and regulations, ensuring compliance with legal provisions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a completion of third-level studies in ergonomics, psychology, or a related field, meeting European Qualifications Framework (EQF) level 7, along with at least three years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with EQF level 6 qualifications must have at least four years of relevant experience. Experience in human factors concepts, tools, and methods is essential, as is experience in conducting studies and implementing solutions. Candidates should also have experience in designing and delivering training tailored to diverse audiences, along with project management and stakeholder management skills. Additional competencies that would be advantageous include experience in an Air Traffic Management environment, knowledge of EU/EASA regulations, and certification as a theoretical training instructor.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in ergonomics, psychology, or a related field that meets the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) level 6 or

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience if they hold a level 7 qualification, or four years if they hold a level 6 qualification. This experience should encompass human factors concepts, tools, and methods, as well as practical experience in conducting studies and implementing solutions in a professional setting. Experience in training design and delivery is also crucial, as the role involves educating diverse audiences on human factors.

Languages:
Proficiency in English at level C1 (oral and written) is mandatory for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the Agency. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in English, adapting their communication style to different situations and audiences. Knowledge of French is also beneficial but not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The position is a full-time role with a duration of five years, with the possibility of extension or conversion of the contract. The selected candidate will be required to undergo security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security vetting in accordance with EUROCONTROL's security provisions. The working arrangement is hybrid, allowing for a combination of onsite presence and remote work, although full-time remote work is not permitted. The selected candidate must complete a probationary period of nine months before being established in the post. Internal candidates will also have to serve a confirmation period of nine months, which may be shortened under certain conditions. The appointment may be renewed multiple times, but the total duration, including all renewals, cannot exceed nine years.
