The organization aims to strengthen protection mechanisms, develop the asylum system, and identify durable solutions for refugees. ACNUR operates nationally from its office in Quito and has a sub-office in Guayaquil, along with field offices in Ibarra and Quito, and field units in various cities including Esmeraldas, Huaquillas, Tulcán, Lago Agrio, Manta, and Cuenca. The project "Strengthening Administrative Processes for the Determination of Refugee Status in Ecuador" aims to establish efficient procedures for quick and adequate case resolution and improve decision-making processes based on due process, consolidating the national system for refugee status determination.

Job Overview:
The position of Auxiliar de Admisibilidad y Elegibilidad involves working within the International Protection Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility in Guayaquil, under the supervision of the Director of International Protection. The contractor will be responsible for conducting informational talks regarding the process for individuals seeking international protection, performing admissibility and eligibility interviews, and preparing technical reports with recommendations based on eligibility assessments. The role requires accurate data registration of asylum seekers and refugees in the ProGres database, managing information according to activities performed, and ensuring compliance with the guidelines and protocols established by the Directorate of International Protection. The contractor will also provide analytical and statistical reports on activities conducted and may undertake field missions as directed by the Directorate and ACNUR.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Auxiliar de Admisibilidad y Elegibilidad will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities including: conducting informational sessions for individuals seeking international protection; performing admissibility and eligibility interviews; preparing technical reports on admissibility and eligibility with recommendations; conducting country of origin information research; accurately registering data of asylum seekers and refugees in the ProGres database; managing information according to the activities performed; implementing directives and protocols from the Directorate of International Protection; providing analytical and statistical reports on activities; undertaking field missions as instructed; and performing any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or be a graduate in Law, Social Sciences, or related disciplines. A minimum of one year of experience in human rights and human mobility is required, with experience in working with vulnerable populations being desirable. Key competencies include the ability to work in a team under stress, handle confidential and sensitive information professionally, and possess strong analytical and effective writing skills. Proficiency in computer applications such as Word and Excel is necessary, along with organizational skills to manage deadlines and the ability to juggle multiple activities such as recording protection requests and conducting interviews.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Law, Social Sciences, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the applicable regulations regarding the determination of refugee status in Ecuador, as well as knowledge of human rights frameworks.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant work experience in human rights and human mobility. Experience working with vulnerable populations is considered an asset, and candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments and manage sensitive information.

Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an advantage, particularly English or any indigenous languages spoken in Ecuador, as this may enhance communication with diverse populations seeking assistance.
