Job Overview: The position of Supervisor de Elegibilidad is crucial for the effective functioning of the eligibility officers under the supervision of the Director of International Protection in Quito. The contractor will be responsible for organizing the work of the eligibility officers, analyzing and compiling eligibility reports, and ensuring the accuracy of information in the case management system. This role involves researching reliable information regarding the country of origin, which is essential for determining international protection needs. The supervisor will also support the preparation of agendas for cases to be reviewed by the Refugee and Statelessness Commission and will engage in various administrative tasks related to the commission's responsibilities. Monthly reports detailing the number of resolutions and eligibility reports reviewed will be required, ensuring accountability and progress tracking in the role.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Supervisor de Elegibilidad will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: organizing and overseeing the work of eligibility officers, analyzing and compiling eligibility reports, drafting resolutions for the Refugee and Statelessness Commission, verifying and updating information in the case management system, conducting research on country of origin information, preparing agendas for commission meetings, managing administrative tasks related to the commission, ensuring the accuracy of data in the information system, training and providing feedback to eligibility officers, and preparing monthly reports for ACNUR on activities conducted. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary, requiring flexibility and adaptability in the role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Law, Social Sciences, or related disciplines. A minimum of two years of experience in human rights and human mobility is required, with at least six months of supervisory experience related to human mobility. Additionally, candidates should have at least one year of experience working on international protection issues and experience in providing training on international protection matters. Key competencies include the ability to work under stress, handle confidential information professionally, and possess strong analytical and effective writing skills for case resolution projects.
Educational Background: A university degree in Law, Social Sciences, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the legal frameworks and social dynamics involved in refugee protection and human rights.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience, particularly in human rights and human mobility. Candidates should have at least six months of supervisory experience overseeing personnel involved in human mobility and one year of experience in international protection issues. Experience in training and capacity building in international protection is also necessary.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, given the local context and the need to communicate effectively with stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly English, is considered an asset but is not mandatory.
