Duties and Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the Assistant Storekeeper include:
Supporting the receipt and dispatch of commodities, ensuring accuracy in physical counts and compliance with established standards.
Preparing and verifying warehouse and transport documents, maintaining accurate transaction records, and ensuring immediate reporting on commodity movements.
Conducting daily inspections and preparing reports on the quality and quantity of commodities received and dispatched.
Implementing measures to safeguard non-food commodities and ensuring quality control in line with WFP procedures.
Monitoring warehouse conditions and optimizing space utilization for effective commodity storage.
Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless logistics operations and customer service.
Assisting in daily warehouse closing reconciliation and inventory checks to meet management requirements.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess some experience in logistics operations, particularly in warehouse management and inventory control. A valid driver's license (Category B) is required, along with experience operating forklifts with certification. Knowledge of logistics and shipping services is essential, and experience collaborating with other departments is highly desirable. Familiarity with ERP systems and Excel is a plus, as is experience in humanitarian response operations.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes the completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a related functional area is considered desirable, providing candidates with a foundational understanding of logistics and warehouse management principles.
Experience: Candidates should have three or more years of experience in warehouse operations or a related business stream.
