Job Overview: The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the 'Helios+: Comprehensive actions for the integration of third-country nationals into the labour market' project in the Region of Crete. This project aims to facilitate the integration of beneficiaries of international protection and temporary protection into Greek society through various initiatives such as employability support, Greek language courses, vocational training, and social cohesion activities. The successful candidate will work closely with national and local authorities, as well as experienced partners, to ensure the effective delivery of project services and activities. The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to promoting social inclusion and cohesion.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: organizing events that promote social cohesion within local communities; maintaining communication with municipal authorities to ensure access to and mainstreaming of services; supporting the operation of municipal working groups and coordination schemes; disseminating information about project services and activities to local communities and municipal authorities; acting as a focal point with implementing partners for event organization; developing tools and mechanisms to monitor the impact of social cohesion events; identifying challenges and opportunities for the social integration of project beneficiaries; conducting and maintaining an updated local service mapping; ensuring strong working relationships with municipal authorities and service providers; and performing any other duties as assigned by the National Project Officer or Regional Coordinator.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school degree or certificate with at least three years of relevant work experience, or a university degree in fields such as Psychology, Social Work, Law, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, or any related field with a minimum of one year of relevant experience. A Master's degree in the aforementioned fields will be considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong combination of knowledge, education, training, and skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the position effectively.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to candidates holding a university degree in relevant fields such as Psychology, Social Work, Law, Economics, International Relations, or Public Administration. A Master's degree in these areas is advantageous and candidates must have graduated from accredited universities recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: Candidates should have previous work experience in a similar role, ideally within a multi-cultural environment. Experience in project management, community engagement, or social services will be beneficial. The role requires a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and to navigate complex social dynamics effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English and Greek is required for this position, both oral and written. Proficiency in additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered an asset, as IOM's official languages include these. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
