Job Overview:
The Individual Contractor will play a crucial role in streamlining the recruitment process within the Chemicals and Health Branch of UNEP’s Industry and Economy Division. This position is designed to enhance the branch's ability to meet its work programme by providing support to the Human Resources focal point and hiring managers throughout the recruitment process. The contractor will be responsible for ensuring that all recruitment actions are timely, compliant, and well-documented, thereby improving the quality and consistency of hiring decisions. The role requires a proactive approach to assist in various stages of recruitment, including preparing documents for job openings, assessing applicants, and coordinating communication with candidates.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Individual Contractor will have a range of responsibilities, including: assisting in the preparation of documents for job openings and reclassifications; assessing applicants and preparing comparative tables for review; coordinating the technical written test and competency-based interviews; taking notes during interviews; and finalizing interview reports. The contractor will also perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively to support the recruitment process.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of three years of professional experience in human resources management, administrative services, or a related field is required. Experience working in human resources within the United Nations system or a similar international organization is essential. Additionally, experience in data management, analysis, and reporting is desirable. Knowledge of ERP applications for human resources, such as Inspira, is also beneficial, along with familiarity with the United Nations Staff Rules and Regulations.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. This foundational education is essential for understanding the administrative and human resources processes involved in the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of professional experience in human resources management or related fields. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in human resources within the United Nations or similar international organizations, which provides a strong understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of such environments.

Languages:
English is the mandatory working language for this position, while French is considered desirable. Proficiency in both languages will enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse environment of the United Nations.

The position is office-based in Nairobi, Kenya, with an expected duration of six months on a full-time basis.
