Job Overview:
The Associate Reporting Officer plays a crucial role in the production, editing, and quality control of reports for the Area of Responsibility (AOR). This position requires a strong educational background in fields such as Journalism, Communications, International Relations, Political Science, or Law, which provides the necessary foundation to interpret complex humanitarian contexts and translate them into high-quality reporting outputs. The incumbent is expected to maintain close contacts with all UNHCR sections in the AOR to gather and analyze information, ensuring that accurate and timely information is shared. The role involves working collaboratively with various stakeholders, including donors, operational partners, and UN agencies, to disseminate information about UNHCR's activities and achievements. The Associate Reporting Officer must demonstrate technical proficiency in data consolidation, analysis, and information management, producing situation reports, fact sheets, and donor reports that are both accurate and visually compelling. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills to build productive relationships and effectively manage multiple priorities while adhering to tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Reporting Officer include keeping abreast of all developments in the country operation to prepare appropriate briefings and reports. The incumbent will draft regular updates for internal and external audiences, including donors and media, and consolidate and analyze data on program implementation and achievements. Participation in the annual reporting and planning process is essential, as is collaboration with Information Management to ensure accurate data presentation. The officer will support the monitoring of UNHCR's partnerships, assist in preparing briefing kits and presentations, and ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements. Additional responsibilities include researching and analyzing information for reporting, preparing minutes of meetings, providing technical support on reporting policies, and supporting inter-agency coordination initiatives. The role also involves identifying and managing risks and opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, ideally within international organizations, UN agencies, or humanitarian operations. Essential qualifications include experience in conducting and reporting on meetings, program/project development, planning, implementation, and monitoring. Desirable qualifications include experience in field missions and at UN Headquarters, as well as operational and analytical work in international affairs, humanitarian affairs, or journalism. Strong writing skills, monitoring, donor relations, and reporting experience are highly valued, along with technical proficiency in data analysis and information management.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an undergraduate degree in Journalism, Public Administration, Communication, International Relations, Political Science, Law, or a related field. Candidates with a graduate degree or doctorate in these fields may have reduced experience requirements, with 2 years of relevant experience for a graduate degree and 1 year for a doctorate.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for the Associate Reporting Officer position is at least three years of relevant professional experience with an undergraduate degree, two years with a graduate degree, or one year with a doctorate. This experience should ideally be within international organizations, UN agencies, or humanitarian operations, with a focus on program/project development, planning, implementation, and monitoring.

Languages:
For this position, knowledge of English is mandatory, along with the UN working language of the duty station if it is not English. For national professional jobs, knowledge of the local language is also required. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset, particularly in the context of UNHCR's operations.
