The intern will work under the direct supervision of the UNIC's Director and/or the Webmaster Assistant (G-6). This unpaid internship requires full-time commitment, with a maximum duration of 6 months, amounting to 35 hours per week. The intern will be involved in various aspects of communications, including digital media analytics, information integrity, media relations, outreach and advocacy, and partnerships and campaigns. The role emphasizes the importance of data analysis in improving communication strategies and enhancing the effectiveness of outreach initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include conducting cross-cutting analysis by integrating data from multiple communications functions to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. They will support the development of analytical frameworks and common indicators to monitor communications performance. In the realm of digital communications, the intern will analyze the performance of digital strategies using metrics such as reach and engagement, assess the effectiveness of digital content, and generate data-driven recommendations. They will also collect, clean, and analyze data from various digital platforms, design dashboards, and apply statistical analysis to monitor trends. The intern will analyze open-source data to identify risks to information integrity and develop metrics for monitoring these risks. Additionally, they will conduct analysis of media coverage, assess outreach initiatives, and evaluate the performance of campaigns and partnerships. The intern may also be required to perform other related tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). No prior working experience is required for this internship, but the applicant's training, education, or skills should be relevant to the UN's work. Proof of enrollment or completion of the required educational program must be attached to the application.
Educational Background: Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master's or Ph.D. program. The educational background should align with the responsibilities of the internship, particularly in communications, data analysis, or related fields.
Experience: No prior work experience is required for this internship position. However, relevant training, coursework, or skills that can contribute to the UN's mission during the internship are beneficial. The focus is on candidates who are currently pursuing or have recently completed their academic programs.
