Job Overview:
The Senior Risk Officer will play a pivotal role within the World Bank Group's Chief Risk Officer Vice Presidency, which is responsible for institutional risk oversight across the organization. This position is crucial for enhancing the resilience of the World Bank Group by ensuring effective risk oversight, proactive planning, and comprehensive preparedness. The Senior Risk Officer will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the World Bank Group's Business Continuity (BC) Program, which is essential for maintaining critical operations and services during and after disruptive events. The role involves collaborating with various teams to identify and mitigate risks, facilitating preparedness sessions, and reporting on the status of business continuity and resilience initiatives. The position requires a global focus and may involve travel, emphasizing the importance of maintaining operational resilience across all World Bank Group entities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Risk Officer will be responsible for leading the tactical day-to-day activities of the World Bank Group's business continuity work program for both headquarters and non-headquarters offices. Key responsibilities include conducting business impact analyses, developing business continuity plans, and delivering scenario analyses and resilience testing exercises. The officer will act as a second line of defense, providing independent oversight and advisory support to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of business continuity plans and recovery procedures. Collaboration with first line teams is essential to identify, assess, and implement risk mitigation strategies that maintain critical business functions during disruptive events. The officer will facilitate business continuity and crisis management preparedness sessions to promote a culture of resilience within the organization. Additionally, the Senior Risk Officer will develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and provide regular reporting to management and governance bodies regarding the status of business continuity and resilience efforts. The role also includes coordinating continuity and recovery efforts during significant disruptions and mentoring junior staff while managing additional projects or tasks assigned by the Business Continuity Manager.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in a relevant field and have a minimum of 8 years of experience in business continuity management, crisis management, operational risk management, or operational resilience within a global organization. A strong understanding and practical experience of the Three Lines of Defense model is essential. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience interacting effectively with senior management and influencing without formal authority. Experience working in large, matrixed organizations with complex risk landscapes and diverse stakeholders is crucial. A track record of innovation and implementing positive changes in business continuity practices is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills are required, along with professional certifications in Business Continuity Management (BCM) or risk management being an advantage (e.g., CBCP, ISO 22310 Lead Auditor).

Educational Background:
A Master’s Degree in a relevant area is required for this position, ensuring that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of the complexities involved in risk management and business continuity.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in business continuity management, crisis management, operational risk management, or operational resilience, particularly within a global organization. This level of experience is essential to navigate the complexities of the role and to effectively contribute to the World Bank Group's objectives.
