Job Overview:
The Child Protection Specialist Level 3 position at UNICEF involves supporting program and project development and planning, managing and monitoring program delivery, providing technical and operational support for program implementation, and building networks and partnerships. The role is crucial in ensuring that UNICEF's mission to promote children's rights is effectively executed, particularly focusing on the most disadvantaged and excluded children. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and planning of programs/projects related to child protection.
  • Manage and monitor program implementation, ensuring delivery of results aligned with UNICEF's objectives.
  • Provide technical and operational support to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to foster collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Engage in innovation and knowledge management to improve program strategies.
  • Contribute to capacity building initiatives for staff and partners.
  • Ensure compliance with UNICEF's policies and procedures in all program activities.
  • Participate in advocacy efforts to promote children's rights and protection at local, national, and international levels.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or a relevant social science field. Additionally, a minimum of five years of professional experience in social development planning and management, particularly in child protection areas, is required. Experience in a developing country and relevant program development experience within a UN agency is considered an asset. Familiarity with both development and humanitarian contexts is advantageous.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in fields such as international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science discipline is mandatory for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of child protection and the socio-political factors affecting children's rights.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in social development planning and management, specifically in child protection-related areas. Experience working in developing countries is advantageous, as is relevant experience in program development within a UN system agency or organization. Candidates with experience in both development and humanitarian contexts will be viewed favorably, as this role may involve working in diverse settings.

Languages:
Fluency in both French and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language or the local language of the duty station is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration with local stakeholders and communities.
