Job Overview:
The Consultant Web Developer will be responsible for developing and launching the new Drupal Housing Knowledge Platform website, which is a critical initiative aimed at enhancing the availability and dissemination of information related to adequate housing. This role involves designing and implementing the landing page and the main website, ensuring that it meets international compliance standards for security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and usability. The consultant will work closely with the Chief of the Land, Housing and Informal Settlements Section and the Programme Management Officer to ensure that the platform serves as a valuable resource hub for stakeholders involved in housing issues. The position requires a strong understanding of web development, particularly with Drupal 10, and the ability to create a user-friendly interface that facilitates knowledge exchange and data sharing among various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Consultant Web Developer will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Designing and implementing the landing page for the Housing Knowledge Platform on the UN-Habitat website.
  • Developing a new Drupal 10 website to host the platform, ensuring it is connected to the UN-Habitat website.
  • Creating custom themes and templates based on project specifications.
  • Conducting site configuration and administration tasks for Drupal 1
  • Ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security considerations in Drupal 1
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues reported by quality assurance and clients.
  • Staying updated with Drupal 10 updates and security patches.
  • Conducting a technical audit of project specifications and identifying best-practice elements that may be missing.
  • Developing a comprehensive work plan for the Housing Knowledge Platform, including timelines for its soft launch at the World Urban Forum in May 202

  • Creating a website launch plan that integrates pre-launch, launch, and post-launch activities. 1
  • Providing technical support to address any initial issues with the website. 1
  • Regularly updating the website to ensure it remains current and functional.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Relevant certifications in Drupal development, specifically Acquia Certified Drupal Developer, are required. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Drupal Developer with a focus on Drupal 10, along with in-depth knowledge of Drupal 10 architecture, best practices, and coding standards. Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is essential, as well as experience with Drupal theming and template customization. Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git, is also required. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team are desirable traits.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a similar field. In cases where candidates hold a first-level university degree, they must also have two additional years of qualifying experience to be considered. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of web development and the specific requirements of the Drupal platform.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience specifically as a Drupal Developer, with a strong emphasis on Drupal 1
