Job Overview: The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) activities aimed at children aged 6-23 months in various health facilities within the district. This position involves close collaboration with the District Health Office (DHO) and local partners to ensure the effective delivery of services to the most vulnerable populations. The intern will assist in data management, project evaluation, and capacity building, ensuring that the program adheres to the quality standards set by CRS and donor requirements. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience in public health and nutrition, particularly in the context of community health initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include supporting the district coordination and implementation of project activities as per the detailed implementation plan. This involves monitoring and reporting on challenges or gaps in the district, assisting partners in reflecting on project experiences, and coordinating project evaluation activities. The intern will also be responsible for collecting data on the capacity needs of district government staff and monitoring the effectiveness of capacity-building activities. Other duties include facilitating training sessions for health staff, ensuring the availability of TSFP tools at health facilities, and maintaining accurate records of children and TSFP staff. The intern will also participate in health education sessions and follow up on absentees or defaulters in the program.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Familiarity with health program implementation and monitoring is preferred, along with a commitment to the mission and values of CRS.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Nursing, Public Health, or Nutrition is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of health programs and the nutritional needs of children in the targeted age group.
Experience: While prior experience in a similar role is not mandatory, any relevant internship or volunteer experience in public health, nutrition, or community service will be considered an asset. The intern should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the dynamic environment of health program implementation.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reporting and communication will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the district may be advantageous and is considered a good-to-have skill for effective community engagement.
