Job Overview:
The Child Protection Associate position is a vital role within UNHCR's protection team, focusing on the effective protection of children who are refugees or displaced. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Child Protection Associate include conducting needs assessments to identify child protection issues, facilitating consultations with children and communities, and contributing to the development of child protection strategies. The incumbent will engage in program planning and implementation, ensuring that child protection activities are effectively communicated to children and communities. They will conduct Best Interest Procedures for children at risk, participate in case conferences, and maintain accurate case files in accordance with UNHCR standards. The Child Protection Associate will also monitor care arrangements for unaccompanied and separated children, report on emerging protection issues, and provide functional guidance to UNHCR and partner staff. Additionally, the role involves assisting in interagency coordination and capacity building efforts, supporting learning activities for staff and communities, and managing risks associated with child protection activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in child protection or related fields, with a focus on prevention and response in local contexts. A High School Diploma is required, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education with two years of relevant experience. Essential skills include strong knowledge of child protection case management, experience in working with children and families, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities. Desirable qualifications include familiarity with UNHCR child protection policies, local child protection laws, and participatory approaches to community engagement. Candidates should also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively in challenging environments.

Educational Background:
