The role involves monitoring and analyzing human rights developments, particularly concerning accountability, civic space, and the rights of marginalized groups, including women and persons with disabilities. The intern will also engage in research, drafting reports, and organizing events that promote human rights education and stakeholder engagement with UN mechanisms. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of human rights within a prominent international organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include monitoring and analyzing human rights developments and trends in Ethiopia, particularly focusing on accountability, transitional justice, civic space, and the rights of women and persons with disabilities. The intern will be tasked with researching and drafting internal and external notes and reports relevant to these areas. Additionally, the intern will support the organization of various events, such as human rights training sessions, workshops, and celebrations for Human Rights Day. Engaging with stakeholders to facilitate their interaction with UN human rights mechanisms will also be a key responsibility. The intern will assist in integrating human rights perspectives into national policies and strategies, participate in meetings and conferences, take notes, and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). A background in law and human rights is particularly relevant for this internship. While no prior work experience is required, candidates should possess skills and knowledge that would benefit the United Nations during their internship.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this internship include being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program (Master's degree or equivalent) or a first university degree (Bachelor's level or equivalent) in a relevant field such as law, human rights, or social sciences.
