Job Overview:
The Communications Data Specialist position at FAO is designed to leverage digital and audience data to create actionable insights that support communication strategies and decision-making processes. This role is pivotal in developing dashboards, measuring the impact of communication efforts across various channels, and fostering a data-driven culture within the Office of Communications. The specialist will be responsible for providing timely and accurate dashboards and briefings that inform leadership on communication priorities and resource allocation. Additionally, the role involves enhancing campaigns through evidence-based recommendations, maintaining audience data quality, and developing a shared KPI framework for consistent reporting across FAO's corporate channels. The position requires collaboration with various teams to maximize audience engagement and facilitate capacity building within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Data Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including monitoring and evaluating FAO's digital engagement using approved analytics tools, delivering executive summaries on a weekly and monthly basis. The specialist will support the establishment of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and data management platform, focusing on audience segmentation and consent management. Collaboration with teams to enhance audience engagement with the FAO Museum and events is essential, as well as facilitating capacity building through training and templates. The role also involves identifying emerging themes and stakeholder conversations relevant to FAO, translating insights into actionable editorial strategies, and advising teams on platform algorithm changes and their impact on content performance. The specialist will design and maintain automated dashboards for various engagement metrics, ensuring compliance with FAO's Data Visualization Guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in communications, media studies, data science, statistics, economics, or related fields. Those with a bachelor's degree must have two additional years of relevant professional experience. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in data analytics or a related field is required. Proficiency in English at a working knowledge level (C) is mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as communications, media studies, data science, statistics, or economics. For candidates with a bachelor's degree, an additional two years of relevant professional experience is necessary to meet the minimum qualifications. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of data analytics and communication strategies within an international organization like FAO.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in data analytics or a related field. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with web and social analytics tools, dashboarding software, and data management systems. Experience in defining KPIs for international organizations and familiarity with CRM and email analytics is preferred.
