Job Overview: The Inter-Agency Coordination Associate plays a crucial role within the Inter-Agency Coordination Unit, primarily reporting to the Senior Inter-Agency Coordination Officer. This position involves active participation in meetings and working groups related to the Refugee Coordination Model, providing essential support for coordination work on common processes. The incumbent is expected to contribute to the implementation of comprehensive coordination strategies at the Sector/Sub-sectors level, ensuring that gender equality programming is integrated into all activities. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Inter-Agency Coordination Associate include providing support to the Senior Inter-Agency Coordination Officer, contributing to the implementation of coordination strategies, preparing work plans and budgets, and ensuring consistency in coordination standards across sectors. The associate will act as the information management focal point, collecting and analyzing data on sector activities, and supporting the preparation of sector-specific reports. Additionally, the role involves organizing presentations, events, and workshops, promoting collaboration among sectors, and identifying and managing risks that may impact objectives. The associate is also expected to perform other related duties as required, demonstrating strong negotiation, advocacy, and communication skills throughout.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Humanitarian Studies, Development Studies, Community and Social Sciences, or a closely related field from a recognized institution. A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian and/or development contexts is required, with a focus on protection-related work for forcibly displaced populations. Demonstrable experience in humanitarian protection programming and coordination, particularly in complex and volatile environments, is essential. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills are necessary, along with the ability to work flexibly in multicultural teams.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Law, Humanitarian Studies, Development Studies, or Community and Social Sciences. Higher qualifications may be considered an asset, but a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is mandatory for eligibility.
Experience: The position requires at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian or development contexts. Candidates should have a proven track record of working effectively in complex environments, with specific experience in humanitarian protection programming and coordination. Experience in inter-agency coordination and emergency response is highly desirable.
Languages: Knowledge of English is mandatory, and familiarity with the UN working language of the duty station is required if it is not English. For national professional jobs, knowledge of the local language is also necessary. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset.
