The primary focus of the internship will be on the investigation of Sexual and Gender-based Crimes (SGBC) and Crimes Against and Affecting Children (CAAC) in Myanmar. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful research and analysis, contributing to the organization's efforts to document and address serious human rights violations. The role requires a commitment to understanding complex legal and social issues, as well as a sensitivity to the distressing nature of the subject matter.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are crucial to the work of CASS. These duties include conducting thorough research on SGBC and CAAC, reviewing and analyzing documentation related to these issues, and preparing detailed analyses that inform the organization's reports and public information materials. Interns will also assist in drafting briefing papers, incident reports, and investigation plans, as well as populating databases with relevant information. Additionally, they will be responsible for proofreading, summarizing, translating documents when necessary, and drafting records of meetings. Interns may encounter materials that contain violent imagery and distressing content, and they should be prepared for this aspect of the work.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: they should either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or they should be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, candidates must have undertaken studies in relevant fields such as law, international relations, political science, or gender studies.
