Job Overview: The Individual Consultant will play a crucial role within the LogisticsManagement Services (LMS) Team of the UNFPA Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU). This position involves the procurement and management of essential supplies, including Interagency Reproductive Health Kits (IARH kits), condoms, dignity kits, and other lifesaving equipment. The consultant will be responsible for developing and applying inventory management systems to ensure proper tracking and availability of UNFPA stocks. The role requires a proactive approach to inventory management, ensuring that supplies are delivered efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of UNFPA programs and partners. The consultant will also engage in cross-functional collaboration to align inventory management with procurement, finance, and distribution functions, contributing to the overall effectiveness of UNFPA's supply chain operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for several key areas:
Inventory Management: Support the implementation of stock strategies to ensure efficient delivery of quality-assured supplies. Monitor stock levels, anticipate future requirements, and manage replenishment orders.
Dynamic Stock Replenishments: Track replenishment orders and manage unplanned requests, ensuring timely handling of Purchase Orders (POs).
Reconciliation: Conduct monthly stock reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and provide input for quarterly and year-end stock valuation exercises.
Audit: Maintain accurate records for audit trails and compliance with UNFPA policies.
Thought Leadership: Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices in supply chain management.
Collaboration: Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and participate in relevant meetings.
Additional Duties: Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of SCMU.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in inventory management, logistics, or related fields, preferably in social mission-driven organizations. A university degree at the Bachelor level in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Certifications such as CIPS Level 2 or CILT-UK Level 3 are advantageous. Familiarity with UN procurement policies and experience with ERP systems are also required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop partnerships are essential, along with proficiency in project management and analytical tools.
Educational Background: Completion of secondary education is required, with a university degree at the Bachelor level in relevant fields such as Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration being an asset. Additional certifications in project management or logistics are beneficial.
Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required, with a reduction to 3 years for candidates holding a relevant university degree. Experience in managing inventory and logistics operations, particularly in the health sector, is preferred. Familiarity with UN supply chain policies and experience with analytical tools and ERP systems are also important.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while working knowledge of other UN official languages is considered an asset.
