This position involves project management of the EBRD’s Regional Economic Prospects, collaborating with country economists and analysts to ensure comprehensive economic analysis. The Principal Economist is expected to contribute to external publications, including blogs and chapters in economic policy reports, thereby influencing economic discourse. The role requires a deep understanding of macroeconomic issues, financial markets, and the interplay between regional economies and global economic trends. The Principal Economist will also be responsible for monitoring developments in the world economy and their implications for the EBRD's operational regions, ensuring that the Bank's economic forecasts are robust and well-informed.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal Economist will lead macroeconomic research and policy work within the Office of the Chief Economist (OCE). Key responsibilities include preparing macroeconomic analyses, drafting sections of external publications, and maintaining macroeconomic forecasting models. The role involves monitoring global economic developments and their impact on EBRD countries, conducting economic research on macro-financial linkages, trade policies, and political economy. The Principal Economist will manage the workflow of the Regional Economic Prospects and other economic policy reports, co-author external publications, and prepare presentations for senior management. Additionally, the role includes participating in discussions regarding the impact of investments and technical cooperation initiatives considered by the EBRD.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a PhD degree in economics or an equivalent qualification from a leading university. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, suitable for drafting official documents and publications.
