Job Overview:
The National Individual Consultant for Database Expert will be responsible for providing expert advice and technical support in the development and management of databases for UNDP projects in Pakistan. This role requires a deep understanding of database systems, data management, and the ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets. The consultant will work closely with project teams to ensure that data is collected, stored, and analyzed effectively to support decision-making processes. The position is expected to last for a total of 120 working days over a period of six months, starting from the date of contract signing. The consultant will be expected to deliver high-quality outputs that align with UNDP's mission and objectives, ensuring that all database-related activities are conducted in compliance with UNDP policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement database management systems that meet the needs of UNDP projects.
  • Ensure the integrity, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and accessibility of data stored in databases.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify data requirements and develop data collection methodologies.
  • Analyze and interpret data to provide insights and recommendations for project improvement.
  • Provide training and support to project staff on database usage and data management best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate database performance and make necessary adjustments to optimize functionality.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to database activities and findings.
  • Ensure compliance with UNDP data management policies and standards.
  • Participate in meetings and workshops to share knowledge and best practices related to database management.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in database management and development, with a strong understanding of database design principles.
  • Proficiency in database software such as SQL, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with UNDP policies and procedures is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, data management, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in database management, data analysis, or a related field is required. Experience working with international organizations or development agencies is an advantage. Proven track record of successfully managing database projects and delivering high-quality results within deadlines is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Pakistan is an advantage and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration is for a total of 120 working days over a period of six months. This position is classified as an individual contractor role, which may involve working remotely or on-site as required. The consultant will be compensated according to UNDP's payment policies for individual contractors.
