Job Overview:
The Reintegration Officer position is crucial for providing policy advice and technical support related to the assistance of refugees and returnees, as well as internally displaced persons (IDPs) in their pursuit of sustainable solutions. The incumbent will engage directly with the target population to assess their needs while considering age, gender, and diversity in planning. This role involves developing a reintegration strategy in collaboration with various stakeholders, including government entities and UN agencies. The officer will work closely with UNHCR's Programme, Protection, and Technical units to ensure that the organization's operations align with the reintegration strategy and adhere to protection principles. The position requires a proactive approach to addressing the challenges faced by displaced populations and fostering peaceful coexistence between them and host communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Reintegration Officer include staying informed about local political, economic, and socio-cultural contexts that affect reintegration opportunities, advising senior management on these matters, and participating in inter-agency programming processes. The officer will manage consultative processes to draft UNHCR's reintegration strategies, ensuring alignment with national development plans. Responsibilities also include advising on activities to meet the basic needs of forcibly displaced persons, developing partnerships with various agencies, and representing UNHCR in coordination meetings. The officer will conduct training to build capacity among UNHCR and partner staff, monitor reintegration activities, and organize evaluations of UNHCR's programs. Additionally, the officer will supervise staff, manage risks, and ensure compliance with global policies and standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of six years of relevant experience with an undergraduate degree, five years with a graduate degree, or four years with a doctorate. Essential qualifications include field experience in reintegration or local integration situations. Familiarity with peace-building initiatives, UNDAF, and inter-agency collaboration is desirable. Experience with development agencies is considered an added value. Candidates should also have functional skills in durable solutions and refugee reintegration, as well as the ability to navigate complex operational environments.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in Economics, Development Studies, Political Science, Policy Studies, or a related field. A strong academic foundation in these areas is essential for understanding the complexities of reintegration and local integration processes.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically six years for candidates with an undergraduate degree, five years for those with a graduate degree, or four years for individuals holding a doctorate. This experience should be relevant to the field of reintegration and local integration, demonstrating the ability to work effectively in challenging environments and with diverse populations.

Languages:
For this position, knowledge of English is mandatory, along with the UN working language of the duty station if it is not English. For national professional roles, proficiency in the local language is also required. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not mandatory.
