Job Overview:
The internship opportunity at the ESCAP Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia (SRO-ENEA) is designed for individuals looking to gain practical experience in the field of environmental cooperation, particularly focusing on Low Carbon Cities (LCC). Interns will be engaged in a full-time capacity, working five days a week for a total of 40 hours. The internship is unpaid and spans a minimum of three months, with the potential for extension up to six months based on the office's needs. Interns will support the North-East Asian Subregional Programme for Environmental Cooperation (NEASPEC) and contribute to preparations for significant activities planned for 202

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the objectives of the NEASPEC initiative. Key responsibilities include conducting desk research on relevant topics related to Low Carbon Cities, assisting in the drafting and preparation of official documents, and supporting the structuring and content organization of the NEA-LCCP online platform. Interns will also assist in drafting, editing, and formatting communication and knowledge products, including web content materials. Additionally, they will provide administrative and logistical support for meetings, workshops, or forums related to LCC, and will be expected to attend these events and summarize the proceedings. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, applicants should have a field of study closely related to the internship. Good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Teams, is essential for this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. Programme. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application. This educational background ensures that interns have the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to the office's projects and initiatives.

Experience:
While no prior professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic knowledge and skills related to environmental cooperation and urban sustainability. Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
