Job Overview:
The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) position is designed for nationals of the Netherlands and is part of a program aimed at developing young professionals in the field of HIV/AIDS response. The JPO will work under the supervision of the Adviser, HIV Financing Policy, contributing to the development of sustainability roadmaps and strategies that inform decision-making and ensure impactful solutions. The role involves coordinating country requests for support, developing progress reports, conducting regional analyses, and providing strategic recommendations to enhance the HIV response. The JPO will also engage in capacity-building initiatives, contribute to knowledge management, and participate in training programs to enhance their understanding of global health financing and the dynamics of the HIV response.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing country requests for support, serving as the primary liaison for project-related inquiries, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. They will develop and deliver comprehensive progress reports on sustainability initiatives, conduct regional analyses of sustainability efforts, and apply global benchmarks to assess progress. Additionally, the JPO will support capacity-building initiatives, contribute to knowledge management, design knowledge products, and engage in networks to foster continuous learning. The role also includes providing analytical input for reports and publications, identifying trends and good practices, and supporting the overall mission of UNAIDS in the HIV response.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in economics, public health, or a related field. Experience or postgraduate training in health economics is an asset. In exceptional cases, candidates with a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of relevant working experience may be considered. A minimum of two years of relevant working experience after obtaining the first university degree is required, preferably in economics, public health, or development. Experience with quantitative data analysis is essential, and experience in implementation science within health systems is desirable. Work experience within the UN system should not exceed one year, including internships and consultancies.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or equivalent in economics, public health, or a similar academic qualification is required. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree plus significant relevant experience may also be considered. Postgraduate training in health economics is advantageous and will enhance a candidate's profile for this position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant working experience after obtaining the first university degree. This experience should preferably be in the fields of economics, public health, or development. Candidates with experience in quantitative data analysis will be prioritized. Desirable experience includes implementation science, particularly in health systems, and any relevant work experience within the UN system should not exceed one year.

Languages:
An advanced level of English is essential for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of any other UN language is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This position is part of the Junior Professional Officer (JPO) scheme sponsored by the Government of the Netherlands and is exclusively open to nationals of the Netherlands. The maximum age limit for applicants is 32 years as of December 31 of the year of application. The JPO position includes a Duty Travel and Training Allowance (DTTA) of $4000 per year for learning activities related to the assignment and career development. The role emphasizes structured guidance and mentorship, with a focus on professional development and integration into the UNAIDS team.
