Job Overview:
The Driver position at the UNHCR Field Office in Benghazi is crucial for the operational needs of the organization, especially in light of the increasing influx of refugees and the expansion of activities in the region. The primary function of the Driver is to operate UNHCR vehicles for the transportation of authorized personnel, as well as to deliver and collect documents and other items as required. The Driver will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the assigned vehicles, ensuring they are in good working condition and compliant with the technical guidance and specifications set by UNHCR. This role requires adherence to strict security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols and instructions provided by the supervisor, as well as a commitment to maintaining a safe driving record. The Driver will also be expected to undergo regular medical examinations to ensure fitness for duty, particularly given the challenging operational environment in Libya.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver's duties and responsibilities include: driving UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers, delivering and collecting documents and other items; meeting official personnel at airports or other locations and facilitating immigration and customs formalities; performing day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, and ensuring that the vehicles are roadworthy; performing minor repairs and arranging for other repairs as necessary; keeping the vehicle clean and ensuring valid documentation for passengers and cargo; logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and maintenance activities; following all security guidance and instructions from the supervisor; and performing other related duties as required. The Driver will also be responsible for reporting any incidents or accidents involving the vehicle and ensuring compliance with local traffic laws and regulations.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the completion of Primary Education or a High School Diploma or higher. Candidates must possess a valid driving license and have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as a driver with a safe driving record. Functional skills required include knowledge of driving rules and regulations, as well as basic vehicle mechanical skills. Candidates should also have experience in driving a variety of vehicles, familiarity with local traffic laws and routes, and experience in transporting personnel, goods, or documents in a professional environment.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed Primary Education or possess a High School Diploma or higher. This educational background is essential for understanding the responsibilities and requirements of the Driver position, as well as for ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as a driver is required, with a proven safe driving record. Candidates should have experience driving various types of vehicles, including both manual and automatic transmissions, and should be familiar with local traffic laws and routes. Experience in a professional environment, particularly in transporting personnel or goods, is highly valued.

Languages:
Knowledge of English and/or the UN working language of the duty station (Arabic) is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic is particularly important given the local context, while knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset.
