Job Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Millet Seed Production Expert will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including providing technical support to strengthen Namibia's mahangu seed system through capacity development and stakeholder engagement. They will conduct an inception workshop to present project objectives and ensure alignment among stakeholders in the seed value chain. The expert will gather seed-related data and contribute technical inputs to the national mahangu value chain assessment, collaborating with the Assistant FAO Representative for Programme and other relevant government departments. They will assess gaps and opportunities within the millet seed system, focusing on climate-resilient production. Additionally, the expert will conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) for 56 extension and research officers, oversee the development of a comprehensive Millet Seed Production Manual, and support capacity development for seed growers in various aspects of seed production and market skills. Required Qualifications:

They should have at least 5 years of proven experience working in semi-arid agricultural systems and with smallholder seed growers. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in designing or implementing capacity-building programs for extension staff and farmers.
