The Financial Professional position at CERN is pivotal in ensuring both short- and long-term financial planning for the organization. The role involves preparing essential financial documents for the Governing Bodies of CERN, which includes annual budgets, mid-term plans, and annual progress reports. The successful candidate will act as a strategic partner to various departments and projects, delivering effective financial planning, forecasting, and controlling. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Financial Professional include: acting as a strategic partner to departments and projects in financial planning and forecasting; contributing to the standardization and enhancement of financial processes; ensuring accurate internal budget allocations; preparing official financial documents for governing bodies; providing management with analysis and advice; participating in finance transformation projects; implementing new tools and enhancing financial processes; and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure effective financial management across the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or PhD, or equivalent relevant experience in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A strong background in financial reporting and analysis is essential, along with demonstrated experience in resources budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. Proficiency in MS Office tools and experience with financial and administrative software packages are also required. The ideal candidate should exhibit strong analytical skills and a commitment to continuous improvement in financial processes.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or PhD in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field. Candidates with equivalent relevant experience will also be considered, emphasizing the importance of practical knowledge and skills in financial management.

Experience:
The position requires demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis. Candidates should have a solid understanding of financial processes and the ability to work autonomously while managing multiple tasks effectively. Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a limited duration contract for 5 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. The role requires a commitment to a 40-hour work week and offers hybrid job flexibility. The job grade is classified as 6-7, and the reference for this position is FAP-FPC-BP-2026-12-LD.
