Job Overview:
The position of Consultant (e) national (e) expert (e) formateur (trice) sur les enquêtes involves recruiting a national consultant who will serve as an expert trainer on heritage surveys. This role is part of the LUCCEI 2 project, which aims to enhance the capacity of local stakeholders in conducting heritage surveys. The consultant will be expected to work for a total of 20 days over a period of three months, starting from February 16, 202
  • The primary functions include developing training materials, conducting training sessions, and providing technical support to participants involved in the surveys. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring that the training aligns with the project objectives and meets the needs of the stakeholders involved.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the consultant include:
  • Developing comprehensive training materials tailored to the needs of the participants.
  • Conducting training sessions for local stakeholders on the methodologies and best practices for conducting heritage surveys.
  • Providing ongoing technical support and guidance to participants during the survey process.
  • Collaborating with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure the training is effective and meets project goals.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the training and making necessary adjustments to improve future sessions.
  • Preparing reports on training outcomes and participant feedback.
  • Ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures throughout the training process.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • Proven expertise in conducting heritage surveys or related fields.
  • Strong background in training and capacity building, particularly in a development context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with UNDP policies and procedures is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess at least a Master's degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, anthropology, or a related discipline. A PhD would be an advantage, particularly for those with a focus on heritage studies or cultural resource management.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in conducting surveys, training, or capacity building in a development context. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the UN system, is highly desirable. Previous experience in Mali or similar contexts will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as all training materials and sessions will be conducted in French. Proficiency in English is considered a strong asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and resources.

Additional Notes:
This position is for a fixed-term contract lasting three months, with a total of 20 working days. The consultant will be expected to work flexibly within this timeframe to accommodate the training schedule and project needs. The role is classified as an individual contractor position, and candidates may be recruited nationally or internationally. Compensation will be based on UNDP's established rates for consultants, and additional benefits may be provided as per UNDP policies.
