Job Overview:
The Mechanical Technician position at CERN involves maintaining the ISOLDE facility beam instrumentation, assembling new spare instruments, managing spare parts stock, procuring spare part components, and overseeing the manufacturing drawings and 3D model database. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and quality in assembly work, as well as the ability to operate conventional machine tools. The technician will document all production steps, ensuring compliance with quality standards and effective management of the production process. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Technician include performing mechanical assembly and machining tasks with precision, operating conventional machine tools, documenting all production steps meticulously, managing the spare parts inventory, procuring necessary components, and maintaining the 3D model database. The technician will also be responsible for producing and interpreting mechanical drawings, ensuring adherence to relevant standards for dimensioning and tolerances, and collaborating effectively within multi-disciplinary teams. Additionally, the role involves working in radiation areas and underground installations, requiring a valid driving license and medical clearance due to occupational health risks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have up to 2 years of experience in mechanical assembly and machining, either conventional or CNC. They should possess experience in producing and reading mechanical drawings, as well as understanding mechanical assembly processes. Familiarity with product life cycles, quality management, and production follow-up is essential. Knowledge of 2D drawing standards, such as ISO Geometrical Product Specifications, is required. Experience with Catia V5 and PLM is preferable, although proficiency in other CAD software may also be acceptable. Effective collaboration skills within multi-disciplinary teams are necessary for success in this role.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a general secondary education diploma. Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should have no more than two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree are not eligible for this position.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a maximum of two years of professional experience in mechanical assembly and machining. This experience should be relevant to the duties outlined in the job description, demonstrating the ability to work effectively in a technical environment and contribute to the production and assembly processes.

Languages:
Proficiency in spoken and written English or French is mandatory, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language. This bilingual requirement is essential for effective communication within the diverse teams at CERN.
