Job Overview: The Platform Engineer position is designed for a cloud-native expert who is ready to lead significant transformations within the organization. The role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting hyperscale Azure architectures and containerized microservices. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering secure, highly available, and resilient solutions through the implementation of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability tools, and configuration management. This position requires a proactive approach to re-architecting legacy applications and orchestrating cloud-native services, thereby making a substantial impact on the organization’s operational capabilities. The role also involves consulting across various teams, embedding DevOps best practices, and troubleshooting a wide range of issues from infrastructure to application performance. The ideal candidate will be certified, experienced, and eager to drive cloud-first innovation, contributing to the organization’s strategic goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Platform Engineer include but are not limited to: designing and implementing hyperscale cloud architectures, supporting microservice-oriented and containerized solutions, consulting on DevOps methodologies with various teams, troubleshooting application issues, and managing infrastructure effectively. The engineer will also be responsible for setting up CI/CD pipelines, ensuring high availability architectures, and implementing disaster recovery solutions. Additionally, the role requires proficiency in provisioning platforms through IaC tools, managing package dependencies, and utilizing observability tools for performance monitoring. The engineer will work closely with Managed Service Providers and Professional Service Partners to ensure the successful deployment and operation of enterprise-scale applications.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess intermediate to advanced technology certifications in relevant specialisms, as well as entry-level service management certifications such as ITIL Foundation. A robust understanding of software development principles, infrastructure management, and performance monitoring approaches is essential. The ideal candidate should also have experience with production-level containers and orchestration tools, as well as familiarity with re-architecting applications for hyperscale cloud environments.
Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is typically required for this position. Advanced degrees or specialized training in cloud computing, DevOps practices, or related areas may be advantageous and are often preferred by employers in this sector.
Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience in designing, implementing, and supporting cloud architectures, particularly within Microsoft Azure environments. Experience with enterprise-scale applications, API gateways, and high availability architectures is crucial. Additionally, candidates should have a proven track record of setting up CI/CD pipelines and managing configuration tools, as well as experience in migrating workloads between on-premise and cloud environments.

Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract lasting three years.
