The position is with the United Nations Interim security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), which is a peacekeeping mission established to maintain security and stability in the Abyei Area. The UNISFA operates under the auspices of the United Nations and is tasked with ensuring the safety of UN personnel and property in the region. The organization aims to promote peace and security in conflict-affected areas and has been operational since 2011, following the secession of South Sudan from Sudan. The mission is composed of various personnel, including military, police, and civilian staff, working collaboratively to achieve its objectives.

Job Overview:
The Security Guard Supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of UN staff, property, and installations in Abyei. This position involves overseeing the operations of security guards, ensuring compliance with security protocols, and responding to incidents as they arise. The supervisor is expected to lead a team, manage security operations effectively, and report any incidents to the designated Officer in Charge of the Compound Security Unit. The role requires a proactive approach to security management, with an emphasis on preventing unauthorized access and ensuring the safety of all personnel within the compound. The supervisor will also be responsible for conducting regular briefings, monitoring the performance of security staff, and ensuring that all security measures are adhered to diligently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Guard Supervisor is accountable to the Chief Security Officer (CSO) or Deputy Chief Security Officer (DCSO) through the designated Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Compound Security Unit. The key responsibilities include: assisting in the supervision of the security team, controlling entry and exit points, verifying identification and authorization of personnel and vehicles, preventing unauthorized access, overseeing daily deployment of security guards, conducting briefings, monitoring attendance and discipline, organizing patrols, responding to suspicious activities, acting as the first point of command during security incidents, preparing incident reports, maintaining records of security activities, guiding staff during emergencies, ensuring smooth shift handovers, enforcing compound rules and regulations, conducting periodic checks, safeguarding property and equipment, monitoring storage areas, and ensuring accountability of security equipment. The supervisor may also perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisors of the Compound Security Unit.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of experience in UN Security Guard Force Management is required. Additionally, at least one year of progressive experience with a local, national, or private police, security, or fire brigade organization is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership skills, the ability to manage a team effectively, and a thorough understanding of security protocols and procedures.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a High School diploma or an equivalent qualification. This foundational education is essential for understanding the responsibilities and duties associated with security management within the UN framework.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in UN Security Guard Force Management. Candidates with additional experience in local, national, or private security organizations, or those with operational or administrative roles in related fields, will be viewed favorably. This experience is crucial for ensuring that the supervisor can effectively lead a team and manage security operations in a complex environment.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the UN. Knowledge of Arabic is considered desirable, as it may facilitate communication with local personnel and enhance the supervisor's effectiveness in the role.
