Job Overview:
The Analyst position is integral to the EBRD's operations within the Telecommunications, Media, and Technology (TMT) sector, particularly in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region. The role encompasses all phases of the project cycle, including project origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring. The Analyst will be responsible for conducting comprehensive due diligence, which includes financial, market, integrity assessments, and ensuring compliance with EBRD policies. This position requires collaboration with senior bankers and project teams, where the Analyst will contribute to research, data gathering, credit analysis, and financial modeling. The Analyst's work will directly support the Bank's objectives of accelerating digital transitions and enhancing the investment landscape in the SEMED region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Analyst's duties and responsibilities include:
  • Structuring and Execution: Collaborating as a project team member on transactions, conducting thorough research and analysis of market information and financial performance data, evaluating potential risks, and preparing financial models and projections. Assisting in the preparation of terms of reference and internal approval documentation for technical cooperation assistance. Communicating with internal units, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring timely completion of tasks to high standards.
  • Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation, and Reporting: Undertaking tasks related to project implementation and monitoring, ensuring compliance with project agreements, preparing monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions, and assisting with the implementation of technical cooperation assignments.
  • Business Development: Supporting marketing and business development efforts as required. The Analyst's responsibilities are designed to evolve, allowing for increased complexity and scope based on experience and expertise gained.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative and numerical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and design financial models. Candidates should have credit analysis skills, familiarity with local and international accounting principles, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet software for financial analysis and modeling. Effective teamwork, communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure are also critical.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, economics, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are considered advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to the field of finance and investment.

Experience:
Relevant experience in the financial industry is required, ideally from an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm that operates to international standards. Experience or exposure to the TMT industry within the SEMED region is considered a significant advantage, as it provides context and understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities in this sector.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is crucial for collaboration and reporting. Knowledge of French is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders and enhance the Analyst's ability to operate in diverse environments.

This position is a short-term contract with a duration of 12 months. The role is based in Cairo, Egypt, and is full-time.
