Job Overview:
The Human Resources Officer role is pivotal in supporting both the Kenya Country Office and the Nairobi Common Services. This position encompasses overseeing data and analytics, managing recruitment processes for non-staff personnel, coordinating entitlement exercises, and administering UNLPs for all UNICEF staff in Nairobi. The officer will be responsible for providing accurate HR reports, analyzing workforce data, ensuring compliance in consultancy management, and facilitating smooth recruitment processes. The role requires a proactive approach to data management and a strong commitment to client service, ensuring that the HR functions align with UNICEF's mission to advocate for children's rights.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Data and Analytics: Provide accurate and timely HR reports using advanced Excel functions, analyze trends for decision-making, manage staff lists for UNDSS, and support the development of data collection systems.
  • Recruitment of Non-Staff Personnel: Oversee the management of individual consultancies, ensure compliance with policies, provide training on consultancy processes, and act as a liaison with GSSC.
  • Management of Periodic Entitlement Exercises: Coordinate annual medical clearances, long service awards, and other entitlement exercises.
  • Administration of UNLPs: Process and renew UNLPs for all staff in Kenya and serve as the focal point for the global visa desk.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a secondary education as a minimum requirement. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field can substitute for three years of related work experience, while a master's degree can replace an additional two years. Strong Excel skills and prior experience in developing workforce reports are essential, along with in-depth knowledge of UNICEF HR procedures, particularly regarding non-staff personnel. Excellent client service skills are also required.

Educational Background:
A secondary education is required, with a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field being advantageous. A master's degree may further enhance a candidate's qualifications by substituting for additional work experience.

Experience:
A minimum of six years of experience in the Human Resources field is required. This experience should include a strong focus on data management, recruitment processes, and compliance with HR policies.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Swahili is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, with responsibilities extending to field offices in Lodwar, Kisumu, and Garissa.
