Job Overview: The Mechanical Technician position within CERN's Engineering Department (EN) focuses on the operation and maintenance of cooling and ventilation systems crucial for the functioning of CERN's accelerator complex and experimental areas. The role involves working within the cooling and ventilation (CV) group of the EN department, specifically in the LHC Section. The technician will be responsible for supervising installation work, commissioning new systems, upgrading existing systems, and consolidating older systems. Duties and Responsibilities: As a Mechanical Technician, your duties will include planning, coordinating, supervising, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities on cooling and ventilation systems. You will ensure the proper operation of these systems, interact with clients regarding equipment under your responsibility, and propose solutions for modifications or renovations. Additionally, you will technically coordinate contractors' maintenance and installation work, contribute to projects from design to commissioning, maintain up-to-date technical documentation, and ensure compliance with safety rules during all interventions. Participation in a stand-by service and regular reporting on activity progress, issues, schedules, and costs will also be part of your responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in Refrigeration or a related field. Demonstrated experience in maintenance, operation, and installation work on ventilation systems is essential, along with strong experience in cooling and refrigeration industrial systems. Experience in technical coordination of external contractors and familiarity with CMMS tools is required. Knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems and initial experience in compressed air systems will be advantageous.
