Job Overview: The Programme Analyst position at UN Women is designed to support the organization's efforts in engaging men and boys in promoting transformative masculinity and eradicating gender stereotypes. This role involves contributing to the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs aimed at fostering gender equality through the active participation of men and boys. The Programme Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, civil society, and UN Women HQ staff, to ensure effective program delivery and alignment with UN Women’s strategic priorities. The position requires a strong understanding of gender issues and the ability to analyze and interpret data to inform program strategies. The Programme Analyst will also be responsible for developing tools and methodologies to enhance male engagement in gender equality initiatives, thereby contributing to the overall mission of UN Women.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Contributing to the development of program strategies focused on engaging men and boys in promoting transformative masculinity.
Providing technical support for the implementation and management of activities aimed at eradicating gender stereotypes.
Assisting in the development of annual work plans and budgets, and assessing current program interventions.
Supporting local awareness-raising and advocacy activities targeting men and boys.
Facilitating partnerships and networks to promote active participation in gender equality initiatives.
Monitoring program activities and providing inputs for reporting purposes.
Contributing to inter-agency coordination efforts related to gender equality.
Supporting advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts related to men and boys' engagement in gender equality. 1
Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong set of qualifications, including:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field.
A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) is an added advantage.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to gather and interpret data effectively.
Knowledge of engaging men and boys in promoting gender equality is essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification is also beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building. Additionally, at least 1 year of experience in human rights, gender equality, or engaging men and boys in gender equality is required. Experience in developing advocacy documents and delivering training on gender equality and masculinity is desirable, as is experience in coordinating with government agencies and UN bodies.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, along with fluency in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian. These language skills are essential for effective communication and collaboration within the role.
