Job Overview: The Field Office Manager (FM) position is a critical leadership role within NRC, responsible for overseeing the operational management and coordination of activities at the field office level. The FM will ensure that NRC's programs and support functions are managed efficiently, securely, and accountably in the designated field office. This role requires a strong focus on staff management, program coordination, and external engagement with stakeholders. The FM will address specific operational needs that arise from the complex and volatile context of humanitarian response, particularly in areas affected by conflict and displacement. The position demands a dedicated leader who can navigate the challenges of remote locations, security concerns, and access constraints while ensuring effective program implementation and adherence to NRC policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Office Manager will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Line management of directly reporting staff, including performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, and staff development.
Providing field-specific analysis and inputs on Area Office strategies.
Leading effective communication and collaboration with external stakeholders, including local authorities, communities, and humanitarian actors.
Representing NRC in external engagements at the field level, as delegated by the Area Manager.
Ensuring coordination and information flow between program and support teams within the field office and with the Area Office.
Managing field office resources, including budget holder responsibilities for program and support budget lines, procurement, and asset management.
Overseeing the timely and quality implementation of operations at the field level in accordance with NRC policies.
Leading security management efforts, including access negotiations and risk assessments.
Ensuring compliance with NRC's duty of care and accountability mechanisms for staff and affected populations. 1
Coordinating the implementation of field office security plans and access strategies. 1
Engaging with local authorities and community leaders to facilitate humanitarian response efforts. 1
Participating in assessments and operational analysis to inform response planning. 1

Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Field Office Manager position should possess the following qualifications:
A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a managerial role within humanitarian or recovery contexts.
Proven experience in complex and volatile humanitarian environments.
Strong skills in coordination, inter-agency collaboration, representation, and facilitation.
A solid understanding of support functions such as finance and logistics, as well as program implementation.
Professional proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is essential for effective communication.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Management, Social Sciences, or Natural Sciences. Experience: The position requires candidates to have 2 to 3 years of experience in a managerial role, specifically within humanitarian or recovery contexts. Additional Notes: This position is based in Renk, South Sudan, and is offered as a national contract for a duration of 12 months.
