Job Overview:
The Social Media Communications Officer position is designed to manage and evaluate social media communications campaigns that promote public understanding of UNOP activities and events. The role involves originating communications products that effectively convey messages to targeted audiences. The officer will build and facilitate strategic contacts and partnerships to ensure effective social media communications. This position is crucial for enhancing the online and offline presence of the UN Office for Partnerships, ensuring consistency in messaging, and identifying communication trends to provide creative content solutions. The officer will be responsible for developing a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with UNOP’s goals and campaigns, thereby playing a key role in the office's outreach and advocacy efforts. The incumbent will report to the Chief of Service for Advocacy and Outreach and will work closely with other team members to support various initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Social Media Communications Officer include, but are not limited to: developing and executing a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with UNOP’s goals; strengthening the online and offline presence of the Office; identifying communication trends and providing creative content solutions; monitoring and analyzing current events and public opinion; developing high-quality communications materials such as press releases, articles, newsletters, briefs, and reports; crafting compelling narratives and impactful stories; editing and proofreading written content; implementing a social media strategy aligned with the office’s goals; creating, scheduling, and publishing engaging posts across relevant platforms; monitoring and analyzing social media performance using analytics tools; producing various types of information communications products; staying updated with communication trends and digital tools; designing visually appealing communication materials; supporting live social media coverage of key UNOP events; developing social media toolkits; and coordinating with other UN offices and external stakeholders for cross-promotion.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Social Media Communications Officer position include an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or a related field. In cases where a candidate holds a first-level university degree, additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Candidates must have experience in producing engaging digital content on complex topics for diverse audiences and in developing and executing multi-platform social media strategies. Experience in analyzing social media metrics and audience insights is also desired, indicating a strong understanding of how to leverage data to enhance communication efforts.

Educational Background:
Candidates for this position are expected to hold an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with qualifying experience may be accepted. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of communication within the context of international relations and public engagement.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in producing engaging digital content that addresses complex topics for diverse audiences. Additionally, candidates should have experience in developing and executing multi-platform social media strategies, which is crucial for effectively reaching and engaging with the target audience. Experience in analyzing social media metrics and audience insights is also desired, as it helps in refining communication strategies and enhancing overall effectiveness.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
