Job Overview:

Interns will work under the guidance of a primary supervisor and will be involved in various activities that support the implementation of international human rights standards aimed at eliminating racial discrimination. The role includes conducting research on contemporary issues related to racism, xenophobia, and intolerance, as well as providing thematic advice and support to various stakeholders, including States and civil society organizations. Interns will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of individuals and contribute to the UN's mission of promoting human rights and equality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for assisting in the research and analysis of issues related to racial discrimination and intolerance. This includes supporting the development of reports and thematic papers, participating in meetings and discussions, and contributing to capacity-building initiatives. Interns may also assist in the organization of events and workshops aimed at raising awareness about human rights issues. Additionally, they will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including national human rights institutions and civil society organizations, to promote the UN's human rights standards. The role requires a proactive approach to learning and contributing to the work of the section, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (Master's degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first-level university degree program (Bachelor's degree or equivalent). Preferred fields of study include law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or related areas. While professional work experience is not required, applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in human rights and the work of the United Nations. Skills and knowledge gained through education or training should be relevant to the UN's mission and objectives.

Educational Background:
Applicants must have a strong academic background, ideally with a focus on human rights, law, political science, or social sciences. A Master's degree or equivalent is preferred, but candidates who are in their final year of a Bachelor's degree program may also apply. Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship.
