Job Overview:
The Resident Coordinator is tasked with leading the UN Country Team in the development and implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework, which is essential for addressing national needs and sustainable development challenges. This role requires a deep understanding of the UN's mission to promote sustainable development and eradicate poverty in all its forms. The RC is responsible for fostering partnerships with government entities, civil society, and the private sector to advance the 2030 Agenda and advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The position demands a strategic approach to risk management, ensuring that the UN's support is effective and aligned with national priorities. The RC also plays a critical role in promoting human rights, gender equality, and the fundamental values of the UN Charter, while engaging with diverse stakeholders to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Resident Coordinator's responsibilities include representing the UN at high levels of government, leading the UN Country Team in developing and monitoring the UN Cooperation Framework, coordinating system-wide support to the government, and advocating for the SDGs. The RC is expected to engage with various partners, conduct context and trend analysis, and promote the UN's values and principles. Additionally, the RC manages funding for joint UN efforts, oversees country financing instruments, and ensures effective communication of the UN's collective results. The role also involves facilitating access to resources for sustainable development, leading security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security coordination efforts, and nurturing staff learning and adherence to UN policies. The RC is responsible for integrating humanitarian assistance with development programming and managing the Resident Coordinator's Office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in fields such as development studies, international relations, political science, or social sciences. A first-level university degree combined with relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. The position requires over 15 years of substantive experience in leadership roles at the international level, including five years in development, human rights, or humanitarian work at the country level. Previous experience as a Resident Coordinator or in senior inter-agency coordination roles is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong political acumen, experience working with senior officials, and the ability to provide insightful analysis and advice.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in relevant fields is required. Candidates with a first-level university degree and significant relevant experience may also be considered. The educational background should align with the responsibilities of the position, emphasizing development studies, international relations, political science, or related disciplines.

Experience:
Candidates must have over 15 years of substantive experience in leadership roles at the international level, including at least five years of cumulative experience in development, human rights, or humanitarian work outside their home country. Previous experience as a Resident Coordinator is required, along with senior-level inter-agency coordination experience. Candidates should have a solid background in managing multi-sectoral humanitarian programs and experience working with senior government officials and regional organizations.

Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, proficiency in both languages is required, with a minimum level of proficiency as per the UN Language Framework. Candidates must demonstrate strong reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in both languages to effectively communicate and collaborate within the UN system.

The position is classified as a C duty station, with a duration of assignment of four years.
