The position requires over 15 years of substantive experience in leadership roles at the international level, including five years in development, human rights, or humanitarian work at the country level. Previous experience as a Resident Coordinator or in senior inter-agency coordination roles is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong political acumen, experience working with senior officials, and the ability to provide insightful analysis and advice.
Educational Background: A Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in relevant fields is required. Candidates with a first-level university degree and significant relevant experience may also be considered. Experience: Candidates must have over 15 years of substantive experience in leadership roles at the international level, including at least five years of cumulative experience in development, human rights, or humanitarian work outside their home country. Previous experience as a Resident Coordinator is required, along with senior-level inter-agency coordination experience. Candidates should have a solid background in managing multi-sectoral humanitarian programs and experience working with senior government officials and regional organizations.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, proficiency in both languages is required, with a minimum level of proficiency as per the UN Language Framework. Candidates must demonstrate strong reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in both languages to effectively communicate and collaborate within the UN system.
