Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed for individuals to discover the functioning of a humanitarian NGO and understand the links between headquarters, coordination, and field operations. Interns will gain insights into the organization of a mission and its operational constraints, learn about field roles and humanitarian actors, familiarize themselves with procurement procedures and financial tracking tools, and participate in field activities through site visits. The intern will work under the authority of the Logistics and Finance Manager for the Atlantic zone, collaborating with program teams focused on Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation (EHA) and community mobilization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a variety of responsibilities, including:
  • Logistics & Purchasing: Supporting market studies, researching suppliers and donations, participating in purchasing procedures (using the LINK platform), and tracking orders. Organizing transportation, delivery, and storage of goods, managing and archiving logistics documents, and preparing monthly logistics packs.
  • Transport & Stock: Organizing travel arrangements (train, hotel) for teams, assisting in inter-base freight management and vehicle tracking, conducting inventories, and informing program teams.
  • Distributions: Researching donations and assembling kits, packaging, storing, and transporting kits, and participating in field distributions.
  • Accounting & Financial Management: Assisting with accounting tasks such as collecting, verifying, and archiving documents, updating accounting journals, tracking invoicing, participating in monthly accounting closures, and contributing to budget monitoring and financial tracking tools.
  • General: Participating in team meetings and providing cross-functional support to different areas as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should have a background in humanitarian logistics, accounting and/or financial management, project management, development, international relations, or political science. They should possess a good command of Microsoft Office (primarily Word and Excel), strong analytical and writing skills, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, curiosity, critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to anticipate needs. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team are essential, along with an interest in the context of water access in France. A commitment to the principles and work of Solidarités International is also required, and a valid driver's license (Permis B) is mandatory.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have completed a degree or training in humanitarian logistics, accounting, financial management, project management, development, international relations, or political science. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the organization's logistics and financial operations during the internship.

Experience:
While prior experience in a similar role is not explicitly required, any relevant experience in logistics, finance, or humanitarian work will be considered an asset. The internship is primarily aimed at students or recent graduates looking to gain practical experience in the humanitarian sector.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as the position is based in France and requires communication with local teams and stakeholders. Proficiency in English is also beneficial, as it may be necessary for communication with international colleagues and partners.

Additional Notes:
This internship is for a duration of 6 months, starting from the specified date. The intern will receive a stipend of €5.60 per hour, calculated based on actual hours worked each month (approximately 154 hours per month, equating to 22 days of 7 hours each). Transportation costs will be covered at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL. Additionally, interns will receive meal vouchers worth €8.90 per day worked, with a 60% contribution from SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.
