Job Overview: The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Driver position is crucial for ensuring the safe and secure transportation of UN personnel in Iraq, particularly in areas with heightened security threats. The role involves not only driving but also planning secure transportation routes, maintaining vehicles, and providing security support. The Security Driver will work under the supervision of the Field Security Specialist and is expected to demonstrate a high level of responsibility, courtesy, and the ability to work with diverse individuals. This position is integral to the operational effectiveness of the UNDP Iraq Country Office, which is adapting its structure to meet current and future needs while delivering solid implementation support and engaging in pressing development challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure safe and secure transportation of personnel by functioning as a driver within a team of security personnel, adhering to UN security policies, and maintaining communication with security officers.
Plan and coordinate secure transportation routes, ensuring safety and maintaining liaison with security units and local authorities.
Ensure optimal vehicle maintenance and operational readiness, including conducting daily checks, maintaining logs, and performing minor repairs.
Provide security support and assist the UNDP Security Unit in executing their duties, participating in training, and performing other related tasks as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a secondary education and a valid driver’s license. A minimum of three years of experience in security services, military police, or relevant operations with a safe driving record is essential. Familiarity with driving regulations, minor vehicle repair, and experience with UN or international organizations is preferred. Candidates should also have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Educational Background: A secondary education is required for this position, along with a valid driver’s license. Additional training or certifications related to security services or driving may be beneficial.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least three years of relevant experience in security services or military operations, with a proven safe driving record. Experience with UNDP or similar international organizations is highly desirable, as is familiarity with security protocols and procedures.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, while fluency in Kurdish is considered an asset. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms in these languages.
