Job Overview:
The Programme Associate (Emergency Operations Center) plays a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's global operations by providing real-time information and communication services. This position is integral to maintaining situational awareness and facilitating timely responses to emergencies affecting children and families. The role involves monitoring emergency-related developments, producing information products, and ensuring effective communication across UNICEF's global network. The Programme Associate will work on a rotating shift schedule to provide 24/7 coverage, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and professionalism while handling sensitive information and engaging with senior management and emergency personnel. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver quality and timely 24/7 emergency information and communication services to UNICEF offices and personnel globally, including monitoring global media and alert systems, issuing real-time information products, and supporting knowledge management.
  • Contribute to the optimization of OPSCEN's crisis communication and emergency coordination services by providing immediate assistance, coordinating with field-based security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security professionals, and implementing business continuity procedures.
  • Support the quality and continuity of OPSCEN's internal daily operations by maintaining databases, assisting in shift scheduling, onboarding new staff, and participating in knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Demonstrate client service orientation and professional communication skills by engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders and ensuring tailored information delivery.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include completion of Secondary Education and at least 6 years of relevant administrative or clerical work experience, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the work of the organization. Experience in related functional areas such as Information, Media & Public Relations Support, Protective & Security Services, and Executive Support is an asset. Skills required include Real Time-Monitoring, Data Analysis, Data Visualization, Crisis Communication, and Client Orientation.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed Secondary Education. Additional education in Administration, Clerical Studies, Information Management, Media Studies, Public Relations, Protective Services, Security Services, or Office Support is considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in administrative or clerical roles, with a preference for experience in crisis coordination, incident management, and threat monitoring. Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset.
