Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">MEAL Coordinator is responsible for leading, harmonizing, and overseeing Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning, and Information Management systems across the ECHO-funded consortium in Nigeria. This role is crucial in ensuring that all consortium partners apply ECHO-compliant indicators, methodologies, and reporting standards. The MEAL Coordinator will utilize ActivityInfo as the consortium’s core Information Management System (IMS) and produce high-quality, reliable, and timely data to inform decision-making and donor reporting. Additionally, the role involves strengthening partner MEAL capacity and promoting evidence-based and adaptive program management, ensuring that the consortium's activities are effectively monitored and evaluated to meet the needs of affected populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The MEAL Coordinator will lead the design, harmonization, and implementation of consortium-wide MEAL frameworks, logical frameworks, and indicator matrices in line with ECHO Result Frameworks and guidance. Responsibilities include ensuring consistent use of ActivityInfo by all consortium partners for indicator tracking, partner reporting, and data quality control. The Coordinator will configure and maintain ActivityInfo databases, provide technical support and training to partners, and coordinate the development of standardized data collection tools. The role also involves leading Data Quality Assessments (DQAs), conducting consortium-level data analysis, developing Power BI dashboards, and preparing high-quality inputs for ECHO reporting. The Coordinator will implement Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) systems, support partners in designing feedback mechanisms, and promote a structured learning approach aligned with ECHO’s standards. Additionally, the Coordinator will strengthen MEAL capacity across partners through training and technical support, conduct MEAL capacity assessments, and facilitate regular coordination meetings with partner MEAL focal points.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in MEAL roles within humanitarian programs is required, along with proven experience working on ECHO-funded projects and in consortium or multi-partner program settings. Strong hands-on experience using ActivityInfo as an Information Management System is mandatory, as well as proficiency in Power BI and advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting. Candidates should also have solid experience in Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and community-based monitoring, and experience providing technical MEAL support to partners.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, or International Development. This advanced degree is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively lead MEAL initiatives within the consortium.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) roles within humanitarian programs. Candidates must have demonstrated experience working on ECHO-funded projects, which is mandatory for this role. Experience in consortium or multi-partner program settings is also essential, as the MEAL Coordinator will be working closely with various partners to implement and monitor MEAL frameworks.
Languages: Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of local languages such as Hausa or Kanuri is considered an asset, as it may enhance communication with affected populations and improve the effectiveness of MEAL activities.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is one year, with the possibility of extension depending on funding availability. The workplace will be in Abuja, Nigeria, and the start date will be determined when the right candidate is identified. The salary and conditions will be in accordance with the DRC National salary structure.
