Job Overview:
The position of Capacity Development and Resource Mobilization Expert is crucial for the implementation of the Finance solution aimed at financing biodiversity through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Nepal. The expert will work closely with Banks and Financial Institutions (BFIs) to facilitate the integration of biodiversity financing into their operations. This role requires a deep understanding of both the financial sector and biodiversity conservation, as well as the ability to engage stakeholders effectively. The expert will be responsible for developing strategies to mobilize resources for biodiversity initiatives and ensuring that these strategies align with national and international environmental goals. The assignment is set to take place from January 2026 to July 2026, during which the expert will be expected to deliver impactful results that contribute to the sustainability of biodiversity in Nepal.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Capacity Development and Resource Mobilization Expert include but are not limited to:
  • Conducting assessments of current CSR practices among Banks and Financial Institutions in Nepal and identifying opportunities for enhancing biodiversity financing.
  • Developing and implementing capacity development programs aimed at increasing the understanding and engagement of BFIs in biodiversity financing.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, to promote biodiversity financing initiatives.
  • Designing resource mobilization strategies that align with national biodiversity strategies and action plans.
  • Providing technical assistance and guidance to BFIs on integrating biodiversity considerations into their investment decisions.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented strategies and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and progress to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in finance, environmental science, or a related field. They should have proven experience in capacity development and resource mobilization, particularly in the context of biodiversity or environmental sustainability. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have a track record of successful project management.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in finance, environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in project management, biodiversity conservation, or corporate social responsibility will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience in capacity development, resource mobilization, or related fields. Experience working with financial institutions and knowledge of biodiversity financing mechanisms will be highly advantageous. Familiarity with the regulatory and policy frameworks governing biodiversity and CSR in Nepal is also preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Nepali or other local languages will be considered a strong asset, as it will facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and communities.
