Job Overview: The International Consultant for the Biobehavioral Survey (BBS) Data Analysis will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise to the Ministry of Health of South Sudan. The primary function of this position is to oversee the analysis, reporting, and dissemination of the 2024 BBS data specifically focusing on Female Sex Workers in key locations such as Juba, Rumbek, and Nimule. This consultancy is designed to generate high-quality, timely, and actionable evidence regarding HIV prevalence, risk behaviors, and the treatment cascade. The insights gained from this analysis will be instrumental in informing national HIV programming, guiding policy decisions, and strategic planning for Key and Vulnerable Populations. Furthermore, the consultant will support evidence-based interventions that are funded by major health initiatives such as PEPFAR and the Global Fund, ensuring that the data collected translates into effective health strategies and interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the International Consultant include but are not limited to:
Conducting comprehensive data analysis of the 2024 Biobehavioral Survey data, ensuring accuracy and reliability of findings.
Preparing detailed reports that summarize the analysis results, highlighting key findings related to HIV prevalence and risk behaviors among Female Sex Workers.
Collaborating with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to disseminate findings effectively, ensuring that the information reaches relevant audiences.
Providing recommendations based on data analysis to inform national HIV programming and policy decisions.
Engaging with local health authorities and partners to support the implementation of evidence-based interventions.
Ensuring compliance with ethical standards and guidelines in data handling and reporting.
Participating in meetings and workshops to present findings and discuss implications for health strategies.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong background in public health, epidemiology, or a related field. Candidates must possess advanced analytical skills, particularly in statistical analysis and data interpretation. Proficiency in using statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, or R is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience in conducting health surveys, particularly in the context of HIV and key populations. Strong communication skills are necessary for effective reporting and dissemination of findings. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with government agencies and health organizations is also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold at least a Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related field. A PhD in a relevant discipline is preferred but not mandatory. Additional certifications in data analysis or public health research methodologies will be considered an asset.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public health research, with a focus on HIV/AIDS and key populations. Experience working in low-resource settings, particularly in South Sudan or similar contexts, is highly desirable. Proven track record of conducting biobehavioral surveys and analyzing complex health data is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reporting and communication will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of local languages spoken in South Sudan, such as Arabic or Dinka, would be considered an advantage, as it may facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is structured as an individual contractor position, and the contract duration will be determined based on the project timeline and deliverables. The position is expected to be full-time during the consultancy period. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and the consultant may be required to travel within South Sudan to conduct fieldwork and engage with local health authorities.
