Job Overview:
The Advisor to the Chief, Representative Office in Cairo (C/ROCA) will play a crucial role in supporting bilateral and multilateral engagements and briefings. This position involves positioning UNRWA within broader UN initiatives and events in Egypt, producing a quarterly newsletter, and managing C/ROCA's social media accounts. The Advisor will work closely with the Special Assistant to the C/ROCA and will be responsible for implementing communication strategies to enhance UNRWA's visibility in Egypt and the region. This includes producing newsletters, press releases, and communication materials, as well as managing social media content. The role also involves enhancing media engagements, organizing events, and preparing reports and briefings for external engagements. The Advisor will need to analyze media coverage and public opinion, respond to queries related to contributions to UNRWA, and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Advisor will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: coordinating with various departments to implement communication products and strategies; producing quarterly newsletters in both Arabic and English; creating and disseminating communication materials such as brochures and infographics; managing daily content for social media channels; organizing media interviews and press engagements; fostering relationships with journalists and media outlets; participating in UN Communication Group meetings; supporting the organization of UNRWA events; preparing reports and briefings for external engagements; collecting and analyzing information from media outlets; responding to queries related to financial contributions; and performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited institution in journalism, communications, electronic media, digital communications, public or international relations, or related fields. A minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, media relations, and/or public affairs is required, particularly in a multicultural environment. Experience in social media content creation and outreach, as well as drafting concise communication campaigns, is essential. Proficiency in Office 365 and standard software applications is necessary, and experience in similar positions with the UN is an advantage. Familiarity with design software such as Photoshop is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in relevant fields such as journalism, communications, electronic media, digital communications, public or international relations, or related areas. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of communication and public relations within the context of international organizations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, media relations, and/or public affairs. Candidates should have experience working in a multicultural environment and should be adept at social media content creation and outreach. Experience in drafting communication campaigns and familiarity with the UN's operational context will be considered an advantage.

Languages:
The Advisor must have an excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic. The ability to write clearly, concisely, accurately, and quickly in both languages is essential for effective communication in this role. Proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The expected duration of the position is from 01 February 2026 to 31 May 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds. The Advisor will report directly to the Chief, Representative Office in Cairo. The remuneration for this position includes fee-related deliverables with a ceiling of $1,512.5 gross per month.
