Job Overview:
The Child Protection Officer plays a crucial role in providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programmes/projects within the Country Programme. This includes development planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of results. The officer will primarily focus on the recovery and humanitarian child protection programme in the Poltava region, while also supporting ongoing programmes in Kharkiv and Sumy Regions as necessary. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and adherence to UNICEF's mission of promoting children's rights and welfare.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support to programme development and planning: Conduct situation analyses, research development trends, and contribute to the establishment of programme goals and strategies. Prepare necessary documentation for programme review and approval processes.
  • Programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results: Collaborate with colleagues and partners to address implementation issues, monitor programme resources, and prepare reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Technical and operational support to programme implementation: Conduct field visits, provide technical support to government counterparts and partners, and report on critical issues affecting programme outcomes.
  • Networking and partnership building: Build partnerships with government and national stakeholders, participate in inter-agency meetings, and prepare resource mobilization materials.
  • Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building: Capture and share lessons learned, apply innovative approaches, and participate in capacity-building initiatives to enhance stakeholder competencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in international development, social work, human rights, psychology, sociology, law, or another relevant social science field. A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management, particularly in child protection, is required. Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered an asset, as is experience working with government or civil society organizations in child protection.

Educational Background:
A university degree in fields such as international development, social work, human rights, psychology, sociology, law, or other relevant social sciences is required for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of professional experience in social development planning and management, particularly in social work or law. Experience in programme development related to child protection, preferably within a UN agency, is advantageous. Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Ukrainian, particularly in formal language and child protection terminology, and English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Poltava and requires on-site work. The incumbent may need to relocate within Ukraine depending on security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security conditions.
