Job Overview: The Case Management Assistant plays a crucial role in providing timely and appropriate case management services to individuals with protection concerns. This position involves assessing the needs of clients, offering basic psychosocial counseling, and developing tailored case plans that address their specific needs. The Case Management Assistant is responsible for ensuring that clients receive the necessary support and follow-up, fostering a climate of trust and care throughout the process. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including service providers, to facilitate referrals and improve service delivery for clients. The Case Management Assistant must adhere to key protection principles and maintain confidentiality while documenting case progress and outcomes. This position is vital in ensuring that vulnerable individuals receive the support they need to navigate their challenges effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Case Management Assistant will perform a variety of duties under the supervision of the Protection Officer/Team lead, including: conducting case management intake interviews with individuals identified during outreach or referred by other agencies; carrying out comprehensive assessments of clients' needs, considering emotional, behavioral, and social factors; conducting home visits to evaluate clients' living conditions; developing tailored case plans in collaboration with clients; referring clients to appropriate services and accompanying them when necessary; providing ongoing emotional support and counseling through regular follow-ups; documenting each case on the internal case management platform; ensuring proper filing and archiving of case management files; closing cases when objectives are met; participating in internal case management meetings; coordinating with service providers to improve identification and referral processes; and reporting gaps in service availability and quality.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a University Degree in a related field such as Social Work or Psychology, or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, a minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate computer literacy, particularly in Word and Excel, and exhibit a respectful and non-discriminatory attitude. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, good reporting abilities, empathy, and the capacity to work under pressure are essential for this role.
Educational Background: A University Degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline is preferred. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the complexities of case management and the psychosocial needs of clients.
Experience: The position requires at least one year of relevant work experience in case management or a related field. This experience should ideally involve working with vulnerable populations, providing support and counseling, and collaborating with various stakeholders to facilitate service delivery.
Languages: Fluency in Hausa and Kanuri, as well as any other spoken languages in Borno State, is mandatory. Additionally, a working knowledge of English (both written and spoken) is required to ensure effective communication and documentation.
Additional Notes: This position is a national contract with an employment period of four months, with the possibility of extension. The role is classified as non-management and is intended for national applicants.
