Job Overview: The HR Manager position at CIMMYT is designed for an outstanding, self-motivated, and result-oriented professional who will lead and manage the full spectrum of human resources for CIMMYT’s India programs. This role is crucial as it acts as a strategic partner ensuring compliance with Indian labor laws, HR policies, and organizational standards. The HR Manager will be responsible for supporting talent management, workforce planning, employee relations, and culture-building initiatives across CIMMYT India. The position requires a proactive approach to HR administration and development activities, ensuring high-quality HR services are delivered effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The HR Manager will oversee all HR Administration and Development activities in CIMMYT’s India Country Office, managing processes from hiring to retiring of Locally Recruited Staff members. Key responsibilities include providing effective support to the administration of Internationally Recruited Staff (IRS) in collaboration with the IRS HR Management team at HQ, administering various categories of labor such as consultants and interns, and offering professional HR advice to Program leaders and Unit heads on strategic staffing and staff development mechanisms. The HR Manager will conduct recruitment processes in compliance with CIMMYT’s policies, administer staff benefits programs, implement HR processes defined with HQ, maintain payroll incidences, and ensure compliance with local legislation and HR policies. Additionally, the HR Manager will oversee HR Analysts, develop annual training plans, coordinate training programs, and support the compliance team for grievances raised by staff.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A minimum of 7–10 years of relevant HR experience is required, along with strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and HR best practices. Experience working with multi-location or international organizations is preferred. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. This advanced degree is essential to ensure that the candidate has a comprehensive understanding of HR principles and practices necessary for the role.
