Job Overview:
The Communications Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the UNDP Project Manager in enhancing the visibility and outreach of GEF-funded projects in Serbia. This position involves developing and implementing communication strategies that align with UNDP's mission and objectives. The associate will be responsible for creating engaging content for various platforms, monitoring media coverage, and facilitating public information and advocacy activities. The role requires a strategic approach to communications, focusing on increasing public awareness and stakeholder engagement, particularly among youth and civil society. The associate will also contribute to knowledge management and ensure effective communication with partners and the wider public.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Developing and implementing Communications and Visibility Plans for the projects, ensuring regular updates to enhance outreach and impact.
  • Creating and submitting project-related content for review and publishing, including social media posts, articles, visuals, and infographics.
  • Monitoring and updating project subpages on the UNDP website, ensuring content is current and engaging.
  • Collecting data and beneficiary quotes for web stories, blogs, press releases, and newsletters.
  • Monitoring media coverage and drafting monthly communications highlights for donors.
  • Assisting in organizing public information and advocacy activities, including drafting press releases and preparing reports on media impact.
  • Handling administrative matters related to communications, including budget monitoring and payments for communications-related products.
  • Providing translation services between English and Serbian as needed.
  • Contributing to knowledge management by compiling and archiving knowledge products from the project.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of secondary education, with a university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field being preferred. Proven experience in website management, developing communication materials, and managing media relations is essential. Candidates should also have experience in posting information on social media platforms and handling administrative tasks. Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and organizing events is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A secondary education is required, with a university degree (Bachelor's degree) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Television, Graphic Design, or a related field being advantageous but not mandatory.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications at the national or international level if they only have secondary education. If they possess a Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required. Experience in managing communication and visibility within projects is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in Serbian and English is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages would be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
