Job Overview: The Operations Analyst (P1) position at UN Women is designed to provide operational, financial, and administrative support to the Research and Data Section within the Policy, Programme and Intergovernmental Division (PPID). The incumbent will work closely with programme managers and technical teams to ensure effective programme implementation and sound financial management. This role is crucial in supporting the two major workstreams of the Research and Data Section: the global gender data programme, Making Every Woman and Girl Count, and flagship research and policy analysis initiatives. The Operations Analyst will be responsible for managing and implementing various operational processes, ensuring compliance with UN Women’s policies and procedures, and facilitating knowledge sharing within the organization. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide programme management and implementation support by contributing to the biennial workplan and budget, ensuring accurate data entry in relevant systems, and maintaining internal databases for effective documentation and reporting.
Offer financial and budget management support, including the creation of project budgets, monitoring budget implementation, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Deliver administrative and operational support by guiding procurement processes, supporting hiring and onboarding, and managing logistical arrangements for meetings and events.
Facilitate knowledge building and sharing by keeping abreast of UN Women’s policies and supporting the development of operational guidance tools.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Research and Data Section and the organization, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in business administration, public administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Strong knowledge of programme and project management, finance, operations, and administrative processes is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent organizational, coordination, and planning skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively across diverse constituencies.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in business administration, public administration, or a related field is required for this position. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree if accompanied by relevant experience. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of programme management and operational support within the UN framework.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in programme/project management, operations, or financial management. Candidates should have strong administrative and operational experience, particularly in support of development or flagship programmes. Familiarity with modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is necessary, along with proficiency in office software packages such as MS Word and Excel. Experience in organizing events and supporting teams is also required, while experience within the UN system is considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, or Russian, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
